I’m giving this recipe a shot – it’s all mixed up and hanging out in my fridge overnight.

I used orange juice and blueberries as some of the optional ingredients I’ll let you know how it tastes tomorrow!

It’s our first week back with everyone where they should be – school, work, pre-school – and we were quickly reminded of how fast time goes in the morning. Unless we wake earlier than 7am, a hot breakfast where we sit and eat just doesn’t happen.

This leads to our first food mission (there are definitely more) – serving something healthy and filling, since breakfast is the most important meal of the day. I feel so guilty sending Z off to school with a bag of Cheerios and dried cranberries in bag to eat on the way to the car line.

So while I’m researching breakfast bars we can make at home, I’m going to throw it out there…have any meal ideas that match what we’re looking for? I’m in need of some fresh ideas.

And in the mean time, feast your eyes on the hole in our kitchen. Hopefully our new pantry will be finished in the next week. Wish us luck!

Thanks to For the Love of Cooking blog, we made great use of the abundance of cinnamon raisin bread we got at the big warehouse store yesterday. The recipe was fast and easy – always good things for a Sunday morning meal.

It was so delicious, I didn’t even get to take a picture of it because it was gone in a flash!
